Wilshire Law Firm Secures a $4.75 Million Settlement
LOS ANGELES, CA. November 20, 2018 – Wilshire Law Firm trial attorneys Colin Jones, Daniel Miller and Bobby Saadian are proud to announce they have secured a $4.75 million settlement on behalf of clients Michael and Marlena Moore. This settlement arises from an automobile collision that occurred in August of 2016 in Paso Robles California. On that day, the defendant, an employee of Isco Industries, was driving his work truck when he failed to yield at a stop sign. At the same time, Mr. and Mrs. Moore were travelling in the same area as the defendant. As a result of the defendant’s negligent failure to stop, a serious collision occurred. The plaintiffs were shaken up at the scene but did not immediately seek medical care. As time passed, they realized the injuries were more severely than initially thought and sought treatment from various medical providers. Tests revealed that both Mr. and Mrs. Moore ultimately suffered neck and back injuries, including several herniated discs. Due to ongoing pain and mobility issues, they each underwent spinal fusion and decompression surgeries. In addition, Mr. Moore had a spinal cord stimulator implanted in an effort to reduce his pain. Although the accident happened over two years ago, Mr. and Mrs. Moore’s lives were severely altered by this event. Previously in good health, they require ongoing medical treatment, pain management and therapy to this day. “Our job as trial lawyers is to be storytellers. That doesn’t happen by reciting legal theory or showing jurors 10,000 pages of medical records. It happens by bringing jurors into the lives of the client’s we represent — showing not just the struggles but the triumphs that follow a serious injury. When we present our client’s story in a way that touches the hearts and minds of the jurors, there is no option but to compensate them the fair value of the claim,” says lead trial attorney Colin Jones. Also notable about this case is Wilshire Law Firm’s successful use of cutting-edge technology for medical illustrations. By utilizing courtroom animation, attorney Colin Jones was able to present precise details of the spinal surgeries to defense counsel and mediator, which highlighted the severity of the injuries. These medical animations were a key component in helping to finalize this outstanding settlement even before the presentation of any expert witnesses. Going forward, four worthy students will each receive $1,000 towards their college educations, up from two students in previous years. Founding President and Managing Attorney Bobby Saadian started this scholarship program to give students the financial support they need to pursue the noble goal of earning a law degree. “As a first-generation college student, I believe that higher education should be a right and not a privilege,” Saadian said. “Becoming a lawyer is a significant financial investment, and students who are dedicated to their academic pursuits and community should not be held back by economic considerations.” The candidates eligible for the awards are: The Student Scholar Awards – Current undergraduate students and/or high school seniors interested in studying law. The Legal Scholar Awards – Students currently enrolled in law school or undergraduate seniors who would like to pursue a career in law. The selected students will be recognized not just for their academic achievements but for their contributions to their communities as well. To apply, students must submit an essay explaining which field of law interests them and why, and how they plan to use their law degree to help others upon graduation. Announcing the Wilshire Law Firm Legal Scholar Award Recipient
California based personal injury firm Wilshire Law Firm is pleased to announce that the recipient of its 2018 Legal Scholar award is first-year Berkeley Law school student Ashley Johnson. Ashley was chosen on the strength of her outstanding academic record, commitment to community service and thought-provoking essay championing victim’s rights. She will receive a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 towards her tuition. The Legal Scholar Award scholarship was born of the belief that financial concerns should never get in the way of an outstanding young person interested in pursuing a career in law. To that end, Wilshire Law Firm’s Founding Partner Bobby Saadian established this scholarship to help the next generation achieve their goal of becoming an attorney. While there were many worthy entries, Ashley’s application stood out for her desire to pursue a law degree in order to effect change on behalf of sexual assault victims through the legal system. As Ashley herself put it, “I am truly honored to be the recipient of the 2018 Wilshire Law Firm’s Legal Scholars Award. I am especially grateful to Mr. Saadian and his team for selecting me for this prestigious scholarship. I am in my first year at Berkeley Law, and my goal is to become an attorney advocating for changes in laws and public policies regarding sexual assault and victims’ rights. Receiving this scholarship sheds light on a problem so often ignored and puts a strong voice and financial backing behind the belief that the situation is dire but not hopeless — a heartening and much needed support for victims of assault.” In spite of her heavy workload as both an undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis and now Berkeley Law, Ashley has also found time to volunteer at Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) where she mentored middle school girls and CoachArt, an organization that works to improve the lives of chronically ill children through art and athletics. About Wilshire Law Firm: Wilshire Law Firm has been meeting the needs of injury and discrimination victims for eleven years and counting. The firm’s founder, Bobby Saadian established the Legal Scholar award to help the next generation of attorneys achieve their dreams and effect positive changes in society as a whole.

Wilshire Law Firm Files Nationwide Class Action Lawsuit against Health Insurance Provider Aetna
LOS ANGELES, CA. Feb. 13, 2018 — On Tuesday, February 13, 2018, attorneys Bobby Saadian and Colin Jones of Wilshire Law Firm filed a proposed, nationwide class action lawsuit against Aetna Inc. and its subsidiaries, on behalf of their client Nichol Lundin. If the class action is certified, patients who have been negatively affected by Aetna’s deceptive business practices will also be represented. The complaint alleges breach of implied contract, violation of California’s unfair competition law, breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing; unlawful, fraudulent and deceptive business practices. Aetna breached the contract with its clients, when it denied coverage to patients in need of treatment, on the basis of lack of medical necessity, without a proper assessment by a physician. The company had a duty to provide coverage for treatments related to the terms of the health plan agreement. Instead, Aetna denied claims, contradicting health records and company policies. Millions of individuals use Aetna as their health insurance provider and didn’t know about the company’s breach of contract. Aetna’s misconduct is fueled by not wanting to pay for much-needed medical treatments. As a result of the company’s improper denials, and lack of physicians reviewing patients’ files and records, customers have suffered damages and losses.
